Perth College

Perth College, an Anglican school, provides an academic and personal learning community enabling girls to make a difference in their world.

Perth College is an Anglican day and boarding school for girls from Kindergarten to Year 12, located only 4 km from the city in Mt Lawley. The School has an enrolment of 1100 girls, including 110 boarders from rural WA and entry is non-selective. The School was established in 1902 by the Community of the Sisters of the Church and has a strong tradition of educating girls to become remarkable women. We do this by providing an academic and personal learning community enabling girls to make a difference in their world. A Perth College girl is always: Capable by continuously learning and striving to fulfil our potential as resourceful, confident women; Courageous by welcoming challenges with strength, confidence and resilience; and Caring by contributing to our community with integrity, respect and compassion. Together with our School Motto 'Pro Ecclesia Dei' which is translated as 'For the Church of God' we honour and respect God, self, family and community - this underpins all we do. PC has an outstanding reputation of pursuing excellence, engaging body, mind, heart and spirit, preparing for the future, whilst honouring our heritage and connecting our community and the world. The majority of our students gain entrance to Australian and overseas universities. Perth College teachers are passionate about teaching and learning, expert in their subject areas and care about young people. Teachers understand current educational trends, are familiar with emerging theories of learning, implement best practice strategies and their philosophies are aligned with the Values and Mission of the School. At Perth College the education of girls is not only what is taught explicitly in the classroom but also includes the opportunities offered by the co-curricular programme, the environment and the values that are embodied within the Perth College community. The academic programme is well supported by a pro-active pastoral structure which supports the girls through each phase of their development. The co-curricular programme is broad and encompasses a wide range of groups and activities including music, drama, dance, debating, visual art, speech and drama, the environment, team and individual sports, and a variety of clubs. Girls are involved in sequential and developmentally appropriate camps where they are encouraged to face challenges, develop resilience, independence and leadership. All girls undertake take community service and are actively involved in a wide range of social justice activities. At Perth College there is a strong philosophy of participation, contribution, sense of community and social justice. The School enjoys a close-knit community where girls feel a sense of belonging, identity and involvement. We encourage commitment and active connections with Old Girls', future and past parents, while maintaining a strong connection with our current parents.
